My Story

I am the illustrator and co-author of WHY IS COCO ORANGE? (U.S. EPA, 2010)

and the illustrator of WHY IS COCO RED? (U.S. EPA 2022).

Ecology, nature, and animal topics are of great interest to me. I write and

illustrate children’s picture books and middle grade fiction with STEM

components.

My Work

My Background

I graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. After working as an Environmental Engineer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for seven years, I returned to North Carolina State University where I received a B.A. from the School of Design.

I continued working for the U. S. EPA for 30+ years. In addition to developing educational websites and publications for children, I illustrated and co-authored a picture book.

I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and The Graphic Artist Guild.
